I’m 72 years old, & have been married to my wonderful husband, Jim, for 48 years.  We both grew up in Montana, & we have lived in Boise, ID for the past 44 years.  We have 2 beautiful sons (Travis & Dustin), and 1 very special grandson (TJ), who just turned 13!

In 2012 I retired from HP, after 35 years in my career as a software developer.  I was reluctant to retire, as i loved my career & wasn’t confident that I could find fulfillment without it.  However, my doubts were soon put to rest, & partially because of golf, I am quite happy & content.

Jim introduced me to golf over 40 years ago, & even though i was originally cool to the idea, I quickly became enthralled with this crazy game!  I have been fortunate enough to have the ability & opportunities to enjoy innumerable golf outings & trips w/family & friends!  Golf has become an integral part of our lives, and we expect to continue on this journey for many years to come. 

In April of 2015, we bought a home in Sun City West, and since, have been flying south to escape the harsh Idaho winters…. I joined the Deer Valley women’s association, initially because my dear friend, Cathy Lowman (also from Idaho), was a member of DVLGA.  She introduced me to the ladies & we began playing together on Tuesdays.  For 8 years, Cathy & I were captains of the Cholla golf travel league, which was very rewarding & fun!

Moving to SCW was of the best decisions I’ve made since retirement!  We absolutely LOVE our lives in SCW, & continue to learn new skills (you CAN teach an OLD dog NEW tricks!).  I’ve taken the TORCH class series to learn about SCW history & it’s inner workings & this past season I took up water color painting, which is very therapeutic.

I would be honored to serve the DVLGA as your President.  It would also be a way for me to give back to the DVLGA, as a thank you for the past 11 years.

I was born and raised in Southern Illinois and have been married to my husband, Terry, since 2005.  One daughter, Shannon, who is a high school learning disabilities teacher.  I owned a lady’s boutique for 10 years before retiring to start our adventure in Arizona.  I didn’t start golfing until my mid-forties but once I started, I was hooked.  We started snow birding in 2024 and while I was skeptical, I love it! For a golfer, Sun City West, and specifically Deer Valley, has the best golf anyone could ask for.  Besides playing golf, I like to read (all kinds of books), Diamond Dot Art, traveling and I love documentaries. 

 The Deer Valley ladies’ league has so much to offer the members, and I would be honored to be a part of the board.

Cheryl was born and raised in Idaho.  In 1980 she and Craig moved to Oregon where Cheryl worked for State of Oregon for 31 years within the Employment Department and the Department of Justice.  Cheryl has 2 sons and 4 grandchildren in Oregon.  Cheryl played golf off and on in Oregon but has been playing more since retirement in 2016.  Cheryl and Craig moved to SCW in 2018 and Cheryl joined the DVWGC.  If elected this will be Cheryl’s sixth year as Treasurer of DVWGC!  Besides being Treasurer, she previously worked on the Tournament and Ringers committees. Golfing, reading and playing cards are her hobbies.
